Dr Ross Walker is an eminent Australian cardiologist who has been practising over 40 years. For over 20 years he has dedicated himself to improving people’s health with a focus on preventative cardiology.

Dr Walker says the most important thing is a healthy lifestyle. You can reduce your risk for all disease, not just heart disease by 70% by following these steps;

1. You can not have any addictions like smoking, drinking too much alcohol, using drugs & be healthy.

2. You need at least seven to eight hours of good quality sleep every night, good sleep is most important.

3. Good quality eating & less of it. We all eat too much food. The best food is natural food. “If you can kill it & eat it straight away or grow it in your back yard, it’s good for you & after that, all bets are off.”

4. Three to five hours every week of some form of testing exercise.

5. Being happy! That’s it.  Lifestyle improvement is at least twice as powerful as anything a doctor can do for you.

Over 20 years ago Dr Walker wanted to do more for his patients with less harm than, drugs & surgery. He found integrative medicine was the solution. The following are some of his key natural supplements he has used with impressive results in real life.

One of the most effective he found is a special extract of a citrus bergamot fruit from Calabria, Italy. Called BergaMet it has consistently shown in multiple clinical trials its ability to reduce cardiovascular risk factors like high blood pressure (hypertension) & high triglycerides.

It also improved blood vessel structure while reducing plaque in blood vessels, treated metabolic syndrome, significantly improves cholesterol lipid profiles as well as improved insulin resistance to reduce high blood glucose (pre-diabetic or diabetic).

Dr Walker adds that he has treated over 4000 patients with BergaMet & the new stronger BergaMet Pro+, while co-authoring numerous studies & has witnessed thousands of patients getting superb results. He knows of no other supplement that can match its value in addressing so many risk factors. Taking it himself, he recommends everyone over 50 takes it.

CoQ10 is another supplement he says many can benefit from. It is vital for cellular health. Q10 is essential for energy production in the mitochondria of cells. It allows cells to function. The older we get the more Q10 levels can drop. This can lead to poor heart function & even heart failure. CoQ10 is usually taken as Ubiquinone the inactive form. The body converts this form to the active form Ubiquinol with an enzyme called diaphorase. However, diaphorase levels also drop as we age. Dr Walker therefore recommends we only take CoQ10 as Ubiquinol, the active form the body needs. He also recommends people take a specific type of magnesium; “magnesium orotate” to lift the Q10 levels in the mitochondria.

People with elevated Lipoprotein (a) & homocysteine levels, both cardiovascular risk factors, can benefit from Vitamin B3 as nicotinic acid & also an activated B complex. Also recommended is to take vitamin K2 to take the calcium out of arteries. He also suggests people take a high quality, high strength Omega 3 fish oil supplement. As he says studies with omega 3 have shown a 25% reduction in the following events: cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, non-fatal stroke, the need for bypass surgery or stenting & unstable angina.

Recommended supplements & further information is available from the natural health advisers, naturopaths & medical herbalists at Marshall’s Health & Natural Therapy. They are Always Happy to discuss with you how to achieve the results you want.
